THREE-WAY MATH CARDS
Addition and Subtraction

Reinforce Number Families
Increase Understanding
Teach With Ease

INSTRUCTIONS:

The Three-Way Math Cards can be used in several different ways. Each card has three numbers, two in blue and one in orange. The orange number is the sum of the other two numbers. The cards with a border are designed for grades 3 and up.

Basic Use: The teacher will cover up a number on the card, and the student will complete the number sentence. The combination of the visual and audio response enhances the learning of these facts.

"2 + 8 = 10"
"10 - 8 = 2"
or
"2 + 8 = 10"

"10 - 2 = 8"
or
"8 + 2 = 10"

Please Note: There are two sides that include the number zero to be added to another number and three sides that include the number one added to another number. Please teach and reinforce that any number added to zero is always that number and any number added to one is the next higher number.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:

1. Give your student a card and ask him to write the number family facts for that card.

2 + 8 = 10
8 + 2 = 10
10 - 2 = 8
10 - 8 = 2

2. These cards are designed so that the flip side of many cards includes a "math tip" for learning the equations. These "tips" are found on the cards that add doubles (the same number added to itself) and cards that have 10 as one of the blue numbers.

One side "7 + 7 = 14"
flip side "7 + 8 = 15"
