Book Study Reading Guides
Using Book Studies in Learning Language Arts Through Literature
Book studies are such an important part of Learning Language Arts Through Literature. While introducing students to great classic literature, they are designed to encourage the love of reading and to develop the life-long practice of using books as springboards for learning.
While most of the levels of Learning Language Arts Through Literature include book studies as part of the 36 weekly lessons, the Orange, Purple, and Tan books are an exception. The Orange Book schedules one week for the book study, but some readers may like having a little more time. The Purple and Tan book studies are supplemental to the course instead of being worked into the 36 weeks. The novels can be read alongside the daily lessons, or they can be used during breaks for Christmas or summer reading. We've created guides that are meant to assist you as you divide up these book studies.
You can move the studies anywhere you want in the curriculum. Also, if a student has already read a book, another book may be substituted. We have free books studies to facilitate that.
